Before school picks.

Today at Enrich I did the quiz. The quiz is something Alana sends us each week. It is a national quiz. It's all about things that are happening in the news. At the end, it gives you your score out of 15. My most recent score was 15 out of 15.  The other choices for the before school picks are sudoku and a word find.

Story writing

Today in story writing Alex and I worked on Kid-Pix for most of the day to make the scenes of the story.  We made slides with our projects like the asteroids and the crash space. The hard part was drawing the rocket ship. Then we added them to the slide and got most of them done.

Hi Max.
Well done on a productive writing session today.  You worked well independently, and completed more of your story from your set plan.  You were really focussed during the Garageband demonstration and asked thoughtful questions to help you process the new information.  Well done Max.

Story writing

Today in story writing we used garage band to make voices and sound effects. For today we just used The Three Little Pigs. We just used some student shared images and Katie helped us to make music through the whole thing and make noises for the characters. Like for the wolf we found some booing noises and voice overs and for the pigs we made a mouse voice.

Story writing

In story writing we continued writing our narrative stories and we planned out what we were going to do or what we need to produce our stories into a movie. We planned our title. Alex and I have called our story "A War in Zorbak". We are going to make our two characters crash on an unknown planet that none of our planet's people know of. Our rocket-ship's engine gets stolen. I can't wait to finish writing.

Chess

Chess is a fun exciting game. It's hard at first to remember where all the pieces go, but when you get the hang of it, it's an awesome game. With chess you can enter a lot of competitions all over the place. Chess is a good strategy game because you need to use a lot of different strategies to outplay your opponent. It doesn't seem like it but it's just like any other game: Your pretty bad at the start but then you get a lot better. So keep trying and you will get better eventually.

Talent Development

Today we did some more talent development, we were planning our stories.We were looking at   problems, , people and why and when. Today we also picked partners, I choose Alex. Our story is al about 2 twins that get trapped in a black hole and end up in a planet that they don't know of named Zorbak. I can't wait till we act out the movie, it's going to be MINT!!

Max, you have developed a great attitude towards the many challenges you are faced with during your time at Enrich.  Because of this attitude, you have learnt many new skills and knowledge, including the fabulous mosaics you created during art talent development.  You have worked hard on your time management this past term, and have done a great job at attacking the must dos and can dos.  Max you have embraced the like minds at Enrich, and have established a number of new friendships across a range of ages.

mosaics

Mosaic Art.

Today we started on our group mosaic. Our design is of a tuatara sitting on top of the Southland flag (which is dark blue, light blue, and lime green with a white koru).  We used four big base tiles to sketch the design out.  From this, we all took a tile to work on.  I have to do the bottom right corner which is half of the flag and part of the tuatara.  Today I worked on getting the lime green part of the flag completed.  We have a lot more to do next week.  In the end  it will be all worth it because its going to be displayed in a place where everybody can see it.  So the pressure is on us to do a really good job!  I really hope it turns out great so does everyone else in the group.  I will update my blog next week with our progress.

Mosaic Art.

Today we looked at our mosaics they were done!!Today we were sketching our real mosaics its a tuatara on our spirt of the nation flag first we looked for google images for a picture for them both. Then we printed  the pictures. Next we stuck the picture of the tuatara on the 4 tiles then we sketched the picture after we used vivid to trace it. Finally we put some detail on it we put the claws in then we planned the spirt of the nation flag but then it was all over the music went on.But I can't wait for the time we finish because we will donate it to a place in town for everyone to see.

GIFTED WEEK!!!!

This week is all about giftedness because it is gifted week!

Giftedness to me means that we learn things faster than the other kids our age.  Renzulli calls this above average ability.  

At Enrich we learn in a different way, a lot of it is on computers.  We learn about different models of giftedness, like Renzulli and Gagne.  

Maths Problems

Every week we get a maths problems.  This week we got a game called Sole Survivor.  The aim of the game is to get rid of all the dots and get the last dot back to the place it started.  Last week we got the frog game.  The point of the game is to get the sets of frogs to swap sides.  You're only allowed to jump one frog at a time.  That was really hard.  Last but not least we have had Six Circles.  It's a game with a triangle and you have to get all three sides to add up to the number the computer gives you.  There are different levels and it gets harder and harder till you can't do any more.

Mosaic Art.

Today I did Talent Development all on mosaic art.  We found out things like when it was first introduced and the different ways to make mosaic art.  Ancient mosaics were made with terracotta cones.  We did discussed our initial thoughts.  We looked at ancient mosaics and who could have them and who couldn't.  In Ancient Greece anyone could have mosaics to decorate their homes, but in Ancient Roman times, only the rich could.  Then we looked at examples of mosaics that are in our time not ancient.  Then we looked at making mosaics of our own.  First we discussed colours for our draft.  Mine were Blue,Light Brown and white.  The colours for my draft are the same for my real one.  After that we looked at google images.  I found some amazing images of mosaics.

P4C

P4C is all about history, they give us questions like this: "Would you rather be wealthy or have friendship?" I chose friendship because  friends will always be there for you and money will  just drift away before you know it, but your friends will never leave you alone. The other question was "Would you have power or pleasure?" some people chose pleasure and others not so much, I chose pleasure, because when you have pleasure it is like having power but like in a different way, even though you don't get to boss people around you still fell powerful inside.

Multiple Intelligences

This is my diagram, it shows what my strengths are. This shows that my strength is musical, that means that I remember notes and tunes.My colour is low for word smart so that's what I need to practice on.I'm also high in body smart as well that means I use my body smarts when I play sports.

Max's guide to play chess

Chess
It's a fun game and good for the brain. It's a good strategy game. Chess is a working game and it's fun at the same time! Chess is a really popular game. You can go to tournaments and competions. Chess goes quite far  for a game, it can help people's brain to think outside the BOX.The pieces are called King, Knight, Bishop, Queen, Pawn and Rook. The Rook can move any way in a straight line.The Pawn can only move one space forward but on the first move they can move two spaces forward if it wants.The Queen can move any way as many spaces as it likes. Now onto the Bishop, the Bishop can move diagonally any amount of spaces!! The Knight can move in a capital L to move and he can jump over a person. Last but not least the King, he is the most important by far and in danger. You see everyone try to kill the King but he can only move one space anyway. If the only people left are the Kings then it's a draw because the Kings can't go right in front of them. They have to stay one space away from each other. In chess if you get a pawn to the other side you get to swap it with something else. That's only if it's a pawn though.What I love about chess is that it's really fun and quite the brain teaser.

The Class Fieldtrip to Enrich

Last Friday our class came to Enrich  and we did a workshop, it was all about imovie how to make movies, how to put sound effects on and music. Now we all know how to use imovie  and we learnt how to  make transitions in between the spaces.
Before the class went to Enrich they were so exited they talked about it non stop my ear drums nearly exploded. I think the fieldtrip to Enrich was really great for the class now they know what fun stuff  we do. When we  got back I told the class this that was just a taste of Enrich its so cool I love it alot it's awesome.We made the videos in groups I worked with Mckenzie,Caleb and Jacob s the movie was called The rubbish teleporter.It was all about two scientists who made a teleporter there names are Dofenstump and Scien. They jump into it and come out of the boys toilet.

Enrich

At Enrich ILT we have been doing some hard and easy stuff like a must do can do sheet , changing desktop pictures and each week there has been 3 brain busters and some are riddles some.On week 2 we had a field trip for interactions we went to the stead street wharf and the childcare center!!! And the week before that the only thing we really did was get to know each other enrich is more fun then expected oh who am I kidding its awesome.The first week it was pretty hard but then it got easier and easier then i got better  and better at chess. So I think Enrich ILT has been really good for me and my friends Nathan and Jake they go to Enrich to love enrich sooooo much it is awesome
